Who is a parenting coordinator and how can they help?

Pierre Alcantara

A parenting coordinator is a third party the parties will hire to be a neutral decision maker. A parenting coordinator is helpful when the parties have a difficult time co-parenting and making major decisions when it comes to their children. A parenting coordinator will listen to each parent’s view and research on a particular issue, and they will make a decision in line with one of the parent’s views. Again, this is extremely helpful if the parents have a hard time discussing major decisions and coming to a decision together but it is important to recognize that a parenting coordinator costs money so one or both parents can be held responsible for payment to the coordinator. If parents are able to work together to make decisions that is recommended however this is a great alternative if that is not possible.
